Type of USB Ports

On the date 11th July 2024,

Every motherboard has multiple USB Ports but mostly all the ports are never same
There are different version of USB Ports in motherboard which mainly differentiate by capability of Speed

Version USB 2.0 Black USB Ports are pretty old ports which has very low Speed which limits the use case of the port, on this port you can use it for mainly Printer, Mouse, Keyboard, Headphone, Microphone (sometime some of devices require USB 3.0 which might now work properly on this USB 2.0 port)

Version USB 3.0 also known as USB 3.2 Gen 1×1 Blue, Yellow, Purple USB Ports are now days most common & required port, this port is superspeed which is capable of 5 GBBP and capable for mostly every USB device to use at motherboard

Version USB 3.1 also known as USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 Blue, Teal, Red USB Ports are fastest USB ports on todays motherboard with 10 GBPS speed capability

Version USB 3.2 also known as USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Red USB Ports are still new and rare to see in motherboard but hope to see in near future to get best performing ports for sure

To find out the USB Version as showing above image of back of the Motherboard you can see there are multiple color of USB ports & its still hard to exactly identify which color USB is which type of USB Version

So right way to identify of USB Version is to see the Logo near the USB port as showing in image HS or SS⁵ or SS¹⁰ or SS²⁰
With use of that Logo you can identify the Version & Speed of the USB port
